Investigators confirm tornadoes struck in at least four separate states as part of a rare January severe weather system that stomped across the South late Sunday into Monday. At least 100 people were injured and two people were killed. Hundreds of homes were destroyed and businesses and school buildings are beyond repair.
Jefferson County, Alabama suffered a severe blow. Investigators confirm the damage in the town of Clay is signature of an EF-3 tornado, with winds as high as 150 m.p.h. In nearby Center Point, the elementary school is so badly damaged students will have to finish the school year in a different building.
